A South African farmer, who had been trying for years eke out a living from the dry rock soil of his farm, finally gave up. He’d heard that people were finding diamonds all over the country, so hi sold his farm and set out to look for diamonds.
After a year of fruitless searching, he died penniless and in despair. One day, the man to whom he had sold the farm noticed some unusual rocks in a corner of a field. Curious, he took them into his kitchen and washed them off, then polished them. That farm turned out to be the first first Kimberly diamond mine.
